BEAUTY- Q&A BLACKHEADS

HOW TO ELIMINATE BLACKHEADS ON BROWN SKIN ?

What are Blackheads?
They are small Pimple like bumps that can appear on your face, neck, back or even your arms.They are caused by clogged hair follicles. Blackheads are a mild form of acne and the name black heads is derived from the fact that they have a black/dark surface.

How do I get rid of them permanently?
There are a few home/store bought remedies that help get rid or prevent black heads;

1. Steaming your face- This is to open up your pores, which would release the dirt and debris that might be causing acne/breakouts.

You can either purchase a Facial sauna my Personal favorite is 'Conair'  can be purchased off Amazon for $26.95

or a simple DIY steamer can be done at home. Items needed;
  • a bucket
  • hot water
  • towel/blanket
(Remember to rinse your face with cold water to shrink the pores after being opened by this procedure)

2. Black charcoal mask/scrub- Black charcoal has also been known to be able to pull out blackheads.

   Below are a few scrubs/masks that both my mother and I have used personally, which has worked for us (my mothers skin is extremely different from mine- she has acne prone skin and I don't)

This is my Holy grail facial scrub, it works wonders for my skin. I use this as my night time cleanser because its strong enough to dig deep and pull out all the dirt that has been accumulated all day

This can be purchased at any;

  • Walmart
  •  Ulta
  • Target
  • Amazon
  • Boots & Superdrug (for my Hunties in the Uk)
Unfortunately I'm yet to find this Gem in Ghana

Both My Mother and I swear by this and we use it twice a week. When Applied you immediately feel it working on your face, it has this steaming effect where you feel your face heat up. It does exactly what it says it would i.e 'Polish' your face literally.

I purchased this at Media Pharmacy in east Legon ( they are out of stock at the moment)

You can also try some DIY's at home (make sure you always try a patch test first )

I have provided Links to at home black charcoal mask;

*Activated Charcoal can be purchased at any Pharmacy (or so I would like to believe)

3. Baking Soda -This has also been known to help with acne and brighten your skin naturally it has all the 'ANTI's' you can think of- Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-fungal properties. It also stabilizes the PH balance of your skin which helps to prevent acne.

Below is a  store bought cleanser that has baking soda as it's main component;

You can purchase this at:

And For DIY (please always perform a patch test)

Mix baking soda and little water till you get a thick paste this should be applied to your face preferably with a makeup brush leave for 10-15mins and rinse off.

I've provided links for some baking soda DIY's;

Lastly I cannot stress enough the importance of changing your pillow case often (if not daily at least every 3days)

Hope this helps and please send your feed back if  you have tried any of  and it this helped you in anyway!

Love,

LFA.
