BEAUTY - Q&A SUNBURN

HOW DO YOU GET RID AND PREVENT SUNBURN?

There's a huge misconception that black/brown skin doesn't get affect by the sun. So most of us (me included) never really take the necessary precautions when we are getting into the sun. It wasn't up until recently when I got into sun screens and knowing how 'research-y' I can get, I obviously got lost in the world of google and I was wowed by what I found!

Did you know skin cancers fatality rate is quite high amongst Blacks? No (Yeah I was shocked too I didn't think that could happen to us)? You know those little dark spots on your face that keep getting darker and darker but nothing you do is fading them? Could they be as a result of the sun (yes, you guessed right)? Is this too much Tea for you? Well, I'm not here to scare you but rather dish out information and most importantly solutions;

How to Prevent Sunburn?
You have to use a SPF of 30 and higher everyday even if you are not going directly into the sun;

 I have listed a few that are for face and body;

BODY;

1.
NEUTROGENA

This is my number one pick! It has SPF 100 AND IT'S LIGHT WEIGHT? I doubt it could                     get ANY better than this!

2.

SHISEIDO
I haven't used this personally, but I have a friend who has and she claims it's Life and since her skin is close to perfect I'll just have to take her word on this!

3.
HAWAIIAN TROPIC

  I have used this and honestly I really didn't care for it that much, it did, however, do what it was supposed to do and that was to protect me from the sun.

Now moving to the Face, I have listed matte finish sunblock so you can use them as a primer or just as is;

FACE;

MOISTURIZER-

1.

PAUL'S CHOICE
AMAZON

2.

AMAZON

I also always recommend getting foundation with SPF so below are a few of my personal faves and what I use.

FOUNDATION-

1.
DIOR
SEPHORA
This Foundation is my baby, when I want to have that perfect photo finish look. I practically worship it and rarely use it unless I'm going somewhere extremely important and it helps that it has SPF 35. This way I know Im fully covered and protected after using my moisturizer which has SPF too.

2.

M.A.C

MAC's MATCHMASTER is my everyday go-to foundation, If I'm not using my Kat Von D at night there's a 90% chance this is what I have on, unfortunately this has been known to break people out so if you have sensitive skin I'd recommend you steer clear from this. Upside is it has SPF 15

3.

ESTEE LAUDER

The Last high end foundation I do not play with is my Estee Lauder Double Wear, this was my special occasion foundation till it was booted to the curb by my Dior (no offense Estee) but it has the least amount of SPF so you guys already now why it doesn't make the cut anymore, it still has beautiful coverage when ever I remember to use it though.

On my lazy or bad skin days where I feel I need some 'coverage' I use a BB cream instead of full blown foundation which might clog up my pores;

1.
MAYBELLINE

If you know me, you know this right here is my baby especially when I'm going for my my no- makeup look days. Plus this is perfect for the humidity in Ghana since it's so light it's almost like you have nothing on.

2.
ESTEE LAUDER
I stole this from my mother and never looked back, it was worth all the insults (can one call you a mother if one has not stolen makeup from you before?) I use this for days I have somewhere special to go but again I'm going for a no-makeup look but want some coverage.

Now you can be extra and go as far as getting concealer with SPF but we are ending it here.

TREATMENT OF SUNBURN:

1. ALOE VERA GEL-  Aloe vera has been known to be called the "plant of immortality".

It one of the top recommended product/plant to soothe sun burn and it's a very common active ingredient in most pharmaceutical treatments for sunburn simply because it has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties which makes it perfect treatment for sunburn.

Now don't just run along and cut the plant and use it directly on your skin without a patch test, My mom is seriously allergic to aloe vera and that's because she has extremely sensitive skin.  Believe it or not this miracle plant is not suitable for everyone.

You can purchase aloe vera gel from-

Hope this answers most if not all questions you have concerning sunburn and sunblock. Please comment & share.
