HAIR SERIES FT THE EASY GOING PROTECTIVE STYLER

MY PERSONAL HEALTHY HAIR REGIMEN

NAME - LARA
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN NATURAL - 5 Years
HAIR TYPE - 4A/4B
POROSITY - ERRRR?

My go to style is 85%  protective styling

Usually my hair is in a weave/braids or on rare occasion you'll catch me in a wig.
When my hair is out I make sure it's treated very well and ready for the next session of whatever protective style I'm going to do.

NB: I put my hair away because I don't have the time as a student to be doing all the things I should be doing to it when it's out hence I tuck it away. Disclaimer I do this not because I think it won't grow if I play with it too much (I know some people believe that, don't know how true that is 🤔)

When my hair is out...

Wash day routine;
every week- 2 weeks.

  • Spray my dry hair with water to get it manageable so I  can easily part it in sections - 4( without a comb, I finger detangle)
  • Wet my hair and shampoo each section , leaving the shampoo in the first section till I'm done applying shampoo to the last section(start from sections and work my way through). Then I go back and rinse out the shampoo from the first section I started with all the way to the last.
  • I use an applicator bottle with 3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 and a half cup of water to dilute it. I use the the applicator tip to get to my scalp  ( I still do this in sections). Massage my scalp then rinse it out.
  • I apply my deep treatment mask mixed with Shea butter, organic oils( almond/grape seed and sometimes peppermint). I divide each section into 4 or more, use a wide tooth comb to detangle then use a denman brush and twist it. (Do that to all of the 4 main sections) then put a plastic bag on it. I may leave it for the night or a couple of hours 4-5.
  • Rinse out and put in  my leave in conditioner , seal with an oil( usually something light like almond or grapeseed)
  • I part in sections and twist my hair.
Things to know :

I only comb my hair when it's wet! So that is once I've washed and put in my deep conditioner then I comb to prevent any unnecessary breakage. The next time I will comb my hair will be the next wash/ condition day.

When I'm wearing my hair out I am still protective styling by either doing twist or having it in a bun till wash day.

    1. ACV is great at gently removing product buildup without completely stripping your hair and scalp of its natural oils, like most sulphate shampoos are known to do. It is also known to balance out your hairs PH
