BUDGET 100 GHC-

  • ALOE VERA JUICE 32 GHC

  • FREEMAN FEELING BEAUTIFUL AVOCADO AND OATMEAL MASK 29 GHC
TOTAL-  106 GHC (THIS IS AFTER ALL MEMOIRS OF A SHOPAHOLIC, WHAT DID YOU GUYS EXPECT?)

This must be one of my favorite things to do. Finding steals (per Ghanaian standards)! And this months Under 100 Ghc finds are things I don't think I could live without. Place me on a deserted island and give me the option of keeping only 5 items and 2 of them would definitely be;

  1. Aztec healing clay
  2. Aloe vera juice (speak of piorities)!

1. AZTEC INDIAN HEALING CLAY

If you are on this planet and have not heard about Aztec clay then Hunty get your life! (but since this blog is your plug, it's my duty to educate and re-educate the forgotten)

Aztec Indian healing clay "the world's most powerful facial"  Just as the name implies, it is the world's most powerful facial! Do you have a zit you want to dry out immediately? Do you want to cleanse your hair and deep condition it at the same time? (And this is also new information to me- it hasn't been tried and tested yet) -Are you trying to grow out your eyebrows? The answer is simple, Aztec clay Hunty!!

So what is Aztec clay composed of ? it's 100% natural calcium bentonite clay (* bentonite clay is a highly absorbent phyllosillicate clay consisting mainly of montmorillonite- all this is gibberish right?) Hunty just know that this is the CLAY of CLAYS!!!

USES OF AZTEC CLAY-

When I first heard about it, it was from one of my favorite Youtubers and she used it to cleanse and condition her hair! At that point in my hair journey, I was just weaning myself off shampoo and in dire need of something that would clean out my hair thoroughly without stripping it yet condition my hair in the process too.

So I rushed out to Whole Foods and coped me one. I got home and immediately wanted to use it on my hair ('cause you never know what the future holds), while I was reading the instructions I noticed you could use it on your whole body (So imagine me with clay in my hair, face and yes, my legs too- I suffer from *keratosis Pilaris* aka chicken skin -tiny bumps/rashes that appear on your thighs, legs , upper arms and even your buttocks, they are harmless but can be irritating when you want your legs/body to have a silky smooth feel) and immediately I felt my face pulsate while it was drying up, it felt like someone had a magnet hovering around pulling objects from my face,  this was the exact moment I knew I had struck gold!

I got in the shower did my normal wash day routine (rinsed out the clay from my hair, deep conditioned, placed my hair in a steaming cap) then I rinsed the clay off the rest of my body, exfoliated my legs using Lush's ocean salt face and body scrub, did my normal facial routine and I was done well, till I had to wash my hair the next day (I leave my deep conditioner in overnight).

Now Hunties when I tell you I came out of that shower a brand new woman, believe me! I went in as Lina came out as "Chacha Fierce" (*Chacha Fierce a spirit animal so sensual and beyond this world she only appears in extreme cases which are most likely induced by vodka) so I don't know if it was the vodka infused scrub or what? But Chacha was here!!!

The next day I washed out my hair and again Chacha was back to play. Like I said earlier I had struck gold with this product. So imagine my delight that I was able to find this product here in Ghana!

  • I use this for any acne/skin complications.
  • To remove product build up from my hair, define my curls coils and condition it (I still DO NOT MISS MY DEEP CONDITIONING STEP)
  • As a first step to treating my keratosis Pilaris

I provided some links for aztec Clay for hair:

2. ALOE VERA JUICE

Again I got this for my hair from a Youtuber (I'm sure you guys have figured out by now I'm kinda sorta a product junkie)

Aloe vera is such a super plant in my opinion, before getting onto the bandwagon, I used to have extremely dry scalp which was prone to dandruff and my hair itself was always dry and brittle no matter what I did. I found out later that I had  *low porosity hair (hair cuticles lay flat resisting moisture and conditioning oils) I was always on the hunt for anything that would help me get rid of my dry hair and scalp. So you can imagine my excitement when I learnt about aloe vera juice.

What does Aloe vera juice do for your Hair and scalp?
Aloe vera has enzymes which help repair dead skin cells on the scalp and balance the hairs PH

Aloe vera gel is great for my Hunties who want to grow their hair, because it conditions the scalp to allow healthy hair growth.

I use Aloe vera juice for my hair shaft. It's my last step after I have washed and conditioned my hair. I use it directly from the fridge, to shock the hair cuticles shut to lock in the moisture and enhance shine.

My hair absolutely loves this, it's aided in my hair growth tremendously and last time I was in the salon the hairdresser actually praised my scalp for being 'dandruff-less'  (super plant right?)

Lately, I have started using Aloe vera to help with my chronic constipation (TMI?) I mean it takes me several glasses (which isn't advisable) but it does the trick.

where can you get it from?

3.  FREEMAN FEELING BEAUTIFUL AVOCADO AND OATMEAL CLAY MASK

This was one of those impulsive buying moments, I went into Media Pharmacy (East Legon) to window shop saw this, decided I was NOT GOING TO GET IT but it kept haunting me till I did (it was a moment of weakness and I swear it won't happen again)

This isn't the first mask I have used from this company, and the reviews on this particular  mask  were not bad. This mask is supposed to deep cleanse and purify your pores (normal/combo skin)

The active ingredients in this mask are;

- Bentonite (that's in the aztec healing clay)

- Kaolin is a clay mineral that has been used as a protectant for temporary relief of anorectal itching and diaper rash (errrr?)

Kaolin is great for detoxifying by gently cleansing and pulling out impurities from your pores

- Colloidal Oatmeal treatment for minor skin irritations

- Avocado oil; High in Vitamin E oil which is Known to improve skin and eye health.

I'm still on the fence with this mask and it's because every-time I use it (all three times) my face has a bad itch while the mask is on (and I wash it off half expecting to break out but nothing happens) I love the end result but I hate it on (if you know what I mean).

I'm not going to throw it away just yet. I'll give it a few more tries and see how it goes.
